In the internet world that we know today, it’s really easy to fill your brain with false information
I often hear that Early-stage startups need:
Branding for over $20k.
+1000 UX user interviews.
A super expensive typeface
The truth?
IT’S ALL NONSENSE.
As designers, it's so easy to fall into the trap of thinking that our work is absolutely essential to a client's success, even though in many cases it's not.
Your job is actually to offer the client the solution that's best for them.
Not to sell them something they don't need.
It’s like selling ice in Antarctica - There is ice everywhere and nobody wants to pay for it.
Sometimes a quick "1 hour brand", a Framer template as a landing page, and a quick & affordable app design service will work best for the client.
How?
It saves them money and lets them kick off which are the probably most important reasons why clients are paying you.
But sadly…
Designers have a hard time accepting this because this means they will make less money.
I would also add to that Instead of completing tasks, and doing things that they are paying you - bring some more extra value to the table by overdelivering.
They will appreciate that and you will stand out amongst 90% of designers out there who are just doing what they are supposed to do.
EVERYONE loves free stuff.
Maybe you see how you can improve the logo for your client?
Who knows, maybe they will pay you extra more, or refer you to another potential client after fulfilling the work.
The moral of this: Always put client satisfaction first, offer optimal solutions, and be flexible with your pricing & offering.
You will be surprised by the results and feedback.
You got this man.
